Out and Down

Sunday 31st January 2010

I've been struggling with a chest infection for the last fortnight, and I've been desperately in need of a walk in the country to help clear my lungs. So a sunny Saturday provided a great opportunity for a short excursion. Stoney Littleton longbarrow is only about thirty minutes from home, so I threw the camera into the back of the car and headed out to take a few photos.

This site is out of the way, and I was expecting it to be quite. I was surprised to find two other groups of people visiting, but fortunately, neither stayed for long. There are some wonderful views out over the countryside from here, and selfish though it might be, they're better enjoyed in solitude!

Bradford-upon-Avon was fairly close by, so I headed out there for a spot of lunch. Farleigh Hungerford castle was on the way, so I paused to take a couple of shots.

After lunch and a little bit of exploring, I headed back to Stoney Littleton to see if I could capture it in the golden evening light.

Feeling refreshed, I headed home, pausing along the way to take advantage of the beautiful dying sun.
