I grew up with the Norfolk Wherry Albion which my father helped save. I have always identified myself as British before any of English Irish or Scottish all of which I can claim (sorry about the Welsh). I now live in a border county, married to a Scot whose own blood comes from both ends of that nation. Next week I hope to get to Knowlton Henge which is how we found this site.

This is an extraordinary website. I've had the good fortune to visit Great Britain several times on business trips, and each time I see whatever abbey and castle ruins are close enough to manage on day trips. This site is a lovely, docent-lead tour through places I've been, showing me so many little moments I missed, making me long to see so much more. The photographs often have a Dickensian feel to them, in that Dickens' landscapes and cityscapes bristle with personality and moods. I love the way the perspective in these photographs often makes the ruins look like they're huddling together against the cold or bent and arthritic with age. The Framlingham Castle ruins, especially, give you the feeling of walking into some ancient fun house, where the walls all seem to be curved and bent and everything is awry. These are great images, and I thank you for such a pleasurable excursion.
